Letter to Mrs. Rowe

“My mom is definitely my biggest role model. She has been through so much, she inspires me to work harder and be vocal. She also knows that sometimes it is important to not do anything, to take a step back when she needs to. She always owns her emotions which I admire. I emulate a lot of her qualities, apple doesn't fall far from the tree, she has been so inspiring.”

Dear Mrs. Rowe,

Thank you for being such an inspiration to HEX: #dbbc24, she believes you have impacted her tremendously. You have been a huge part as to why the images were composed a certain way for the dissemination of Delaney’s story. I, especially, appreciate how much of an inspiration you have been in Delaney’s life to help her grow and constantly teach her the importance of self worth and confidence. Hearing your impact in her life really helped me capture the story of Delaney in the best way possible for this project.

Based off of my interview with Delaney, You are HEX CODE: #8E44AD because you are wise, vocal, and brave. Delaney appreciates you for those qualities. Your HEX CODE has the emphasis of vocality and bravery. Helping Delaney become extremely brave starts with how she is raised in an environment where her mother gives her a voice and the freedom to challenge her. Her bravery to become free with her voice comes from looking up to you, her role model. As a mother who radiates freedom, you are influencing her to voice her own thoughts, opinions, and beliefs. This leads me into stating the components of your character that are translated into a unique color HEX CODE which I made for you and is named after you.

MRS. ROWE: HEX: #A93226
You are purple. You are combined with red and blue, strength and divinity. You are the color of dreams. Your obligation and responsibility has been always to not only teach Delaney to be a good human being, but to also make sure she knows women are just as strong and just as powerful and just as capable and just as worthwhile, as men. She knows that she is in charge of her ideas, her body, and of her own unique and personal decisions. You always encourage Delaney to learn and constantly improve upon whatever interests her; this is what builds her constant confidence and empowers her voice.

You have also ingrained the importance of family and believe it is the stability of any person. Delaney has learned through the years that it's not where she lives, it's the people who surround her that make her feel at home.

A moment between you and Delaney that exemplified your characteristics and your relationship with her is when you toured colleges with Delaney without any of her siblings around.

“When I toured colleges, we went to tour Cornell which is where she did law school and as we were walking through campus, just me and her, she was bringing me to all these spots that she used to hang out with her friends, play pickup softball games and went on dates with my dad. It basically gave me a picture of all her favorite memories she made when she was there. Then, at the end of the day, we went and sat at a bar she used to go to every weekend with her friends with my dad. We just sat there and talked for a few hours about how much fun she had in this place and how many memories and friends I’ll make at school. It was super special because I felt like I learned a lot about her when she was my age and saw parts of myself in her. It was also one of the first trips we had taken where it was just me and mom without my siblings or my dad so we really had time to bond.”

Delaney believes walking through life with you has been an amazing journey; she honors you and the rest of the years you both will have together. Continue to embrace and support the people you care about, motivate them so they can accomplish anything they put their mind to beside society’s expectations. Those purple elements of your personality are what is going to strengthen the people you surround yourself with.

Keep teaching that the space where she wants to be and the space where she is should not intimidate her. :)

Warmly,

Siena Pennington

**This is the photo in his story that you were the inspiration for the use of exposure, composition, and lighting.**

Purple is not present, but you are physically present in the photograph through a projection. You are placed on her back with a photo of the two of you from a happy memory of Delaney’s. The symbolism here is that you are her support system and will always have her back no matter what circumstance. The hand is placed on the left shoulder and is curled over the image to emphasize the feeling of touch. You have touched her life, and your projection will always be the visual in the back of her mind whenever she needs motivation. The three fingers are illuminated to represent the importance of 3; the perfect number. This symbolizes the harmony, wisdom and understanding you both have for each other.
